The Roar would go on to finish sixth in their inaugural Hyundai A-League season with seven wins to their name, a record that would be bettered the following season (eight wins, fifth-placed finish) and again the in the 2007-08 season where the Club qualified for its maiden finals appearance in fourth position. The Roar progressed past Sydney FC over two legs in the Semi-Final before being outed by eventual Champions Newcastle in extra-time in the Preliminary Final.

The club would again finish third in the 2008/09 season and go out in the Preliminary Final at the hands of Adelaide United.
