With the Foxtel Y-League 2018/19 season fast approaching, BRFC is pleased to announce the Young Roar squad that will take the field when our campaign gets underway next Saturday against Perth Glory.

The squad contains an incredible 12 BRFC Academy graduates, as well as a number of interstate talents.

“We’ve assembled an exciting young group of players made up of predominantly graduates of the Academy, but also with a number of what we feel are the most talented Australians from interstate,” BRFC Academy Director Drew Sherman said.

“We’ve already seen the benefits that these players gain with the close proximity to our Hyundai A-League squad during pre-season and we’re confident that these steps will allow us to continue and enhance our proud history of developing players at Brisbane Roar.

“As with much of the Club at the moment, we’re proud of the progress we’ve made with the new FYL program. For the first time in the Clubs history we are able to provide a full-time training environment for the Youth Team, mirroring the kind of experience that top European clubs offer.

“The FYL competition will provide us with the chance for many of our Youth team players to compete on the National stage for the first time, and we’re confident of giving a good account of ourselves.

“We know that we are a couple of years younger than most other teams, however this is always an important stage of the player development process where success on the pitch in terms of results, and transition of Youth players into the HAL set up can often go hand in hand. Our players have already been working hard individually and as a team to give themselves the best platform to do both.”

Players will train twice daily as part of the Youth team, including technical and tactical sessions, video analysis and strength and conditioning based of Football Brisbane at Logan Metro Sports Park.
