Young Roar Head Coach Jake Goodship says his side are remaining focused ahead of Sunday’s NPL Queensland clash against Sunshine Coast FC.

Our Young Roar side are looking to make it four wins on the bounce when they take on the winless Fire at Kawana Western Precinct (4pm KO).

The Roar sit atop the NPL Queensland ladder with having taken maximum points form their opening three matches & Goodship said his side is fully focused on building on those foundation on Sunday.

“We take each game week by week, we’re excited to come up against a different challenge in Sunshine Coast,” Goodship said.

“Their results have not been the best but that’s no sign of the kind of team they’re going to be so we’re excited for whatever challenge they throw at us.

“We’re well prepared, we’ve had a good week at training, we’ll be ready.”

Young Roar

The Roar have scored a league-best 12 goals so far with seven different players finding the back of the net.

Goodship says he is delighted with the output of his side at both ends of the park.

“We’ve scored the most goals in the league and to have as many different goal scorers as we have shows how much of an attacking threat we are.”

“It shows the depth we have in our youth program and our Academy program as well because some of the younger boys have started to score goals also.

“The most pleasing thing is only conceding four goals with the likes of Aaron Reardon and Kai Trewin still out and Izaack Powell making the step up into the [Hyundai] A-League.

“So to concede so few when three of our back four are unavailable is really pleasing.”

Brady

The Young Roar’s successful start to the 2019 NPL QLD season comes off the back of the Club’s first Foxtel Y-League title – a campaign that campaign laid the perfect platform for the 2019 NPL QLD season.

“It was good to get the nine games in the [Foxtel] Y-League against quality opposition as well – it’ a different test to the NPL which is more of a physical battle.”

“It’s a good preparation leading into it [the NPL QLD season] but it’s a different test, we’ve grown and we’ve got a lot of players who are in their second season now which is a big asset. I think we’re well prepared.”
