Brisbane Roar Youth has reaffirmed their spot at the top of Foxtel Y-League Conference A with a resounding victory over Adelaide United Youth on Saturday morning.

Mirza Muratovic’s netted his second hat-trick of the Foxtel Y-League in a 5-1 win for the Young Roar which sees their lead extended on the Reds at the top of the league.

Muratovic netted early in both halves from the spot, before polishing off his hat-trick in second-half stoppage time.

George Mells and Jai Ingham both finished off seperate team plays in what was a dominant display from the Roar & keeps their unbeaten record intact.

Young Roar

The Young Roar overcame a slow start but will finish the first five rounds at the summit of the Foxtel Y-League ladder following a pleasing opening month to the campaign for Head Coach Chris Grossman.

“It was important on hot days like today to have a lot of repetition in your forward movement – that’s a big part of our game and it was pleasing to see a reaction [after the first drinks break],” Grossman said post-match.

“It’s been a great start [to the season] These boys are driving for an opportunity – it’s the perfect platform for them, not just the senior boys, but the whole squad.

“They want to be professional footballers and this is the platform for that.”

Grossman also praised the “unselfish” nature of his young striker’s game.

Muratovic

“All our boys can do is continue to put their best foot forward. We’re here to provide opportunities and to see Mirza in the vein of form he’s in is pleasing. He’ll be hard on himself but he’s working very unselfishly for the team and that’s only creating opportunities for him,” Grossman added.

The Young Roar return to A.J. Kelly Park for their final home game of 2019, facing Melbourne City next Saturday, 21 December (3:30pm KO).
