Brisbane Roar has been successful in bringing home two Queensland talents with Jamie Young and Daniel Bowles signing with the three-time Hyundai A-League Champions.

Goalkeeper Young returns to his Brisbane hometown more than a decade after leaving for England as a teenager while 22-year-old Bowles, a defender, comes back to the club he was a part of between 2008 and 2011.

Both have signed two-year contracts, meaning they-ll remain in orange until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.

Young played for a range of clubs during his 13 year stint in the United Kingdom, making over 245 professional appearances. He represented England at various youth levels but is also an Australian citizen.

“I-m very pleased to be playing for my hometown club,” said Young, who played his junior football for Albany Creek, Pine Hills, Eastern Suburbs and Queensland Academy of Sport.

“For a footballer, there-s special meaning playing for a club that represents where you-re from and where you grew up and that gives me special incentive to work hard and play well for Brisbane Roar.”

Bowles was part of Brisbane Roar-s inaugural National Youth League team back in 2008 and played a key role in the youth set-up before he was a member of the club-s Hyundai A-League team that won the 2010/11 Premiership and Championship double.

He spent a year at now-defunct Gold Coast United where he was coached by Mike Mulvey before joining Adelaide United for two seasons. Bowles has also represented Australia at the U20 level.

“I-m really happy to be back in Brisbane, playing for the Roar,” Bowles said.

“Spending three years away from home has helped me mature as a footballer both on and off the field and I-m looking forward to the next two seasons here.”

Familiar with the strengths of both players, Head Coach Mike Mulvey welcomed the addition of Young and Bowles to his Hyundai A-League squad.

“I-m really pleased both Jamie and Daniel have decided to sign for us,” Mulvey said.

“This club recognises the responsibility we have to the state and it-s important for us to have proud Queenslanders representing the orange jersey.

“Both players will add depth and quality to our squad ahead of what will be a big season.”

Brisbane Roar can also confirm the departure of Julius Doe Davies who has been released from the remainder of his contract.
