He may have secured Brisbane Roar a vital 1-0 away win against Central Coast Mariners yesterday but youngster Kwame Yeboah insists he-s not getting too far ahead of himself.

Two minutes after replacing Brazilian speedster Henrique at the pointy end of the Brisbane attack, the 19-year-old unleashed an unstoppable shot past Liam Reddy in the Mariners goal to give the Roar their fourth win of the season.

“I can-t get ahead of myself now,” Yeboah said.

“I want the team to be playing in the final on May 4 and we have to stay grounded if we want to achieve that.”

After making his Hyundai A-League debut last season against Wellington Phoenix, Yeboah had a prolific pre-season campaign, including scoring twice against Sydney FC and the winner against Melbourne Victory before the season proper had even begun.

He had to wait four games into the 2013/14 campaign until his maiden Hyundai A-League goal but it was well worth the wait – pundits and supporters alike referring to his 89th minute thunderbolt as a ‘Goal of the Round- contender.

“It was great to score that first goal of the season,” Yeboah said.

“It took me three games to get it so I finally got it on my fourth – I was definitely looking for it!

“But the important thing was the result.

“The team fought hard for the win, all the way to the end and maybe it was the fresh legs that were the difference.

“[The coaching staff] told me this is your chance to come on and make a difference and I-m just glad I did.”

The goal was made even sweeter for Yeboah, given it was his good friend and housemate Jack Hingert that set him up.

“Yeah, it had to be Jack,” he laughed.

“We always talk at home about football, developing our games and little passes like that.

“It definitely goes both ways, we both try to help each other out with our games.”

Yeboah and the rest of the Roar squad arrived back in Brisbane this afternoon, before preparation for Sunday-s match against Newcastle Jets at Hunter Stadium begins tomorrow.
