Wenzel-Halls full of belief ahead of Victory clash

Brisbane Roar attacker Dylan Wenzel-Halls is looking to continue his rich run of scoring form when his side take on Melbourne Victory on Saturday night  (6:50pm KO).

The Roar head to Marvel Stadium to face a Victory side who suffered a 2-1 AFC Champions League defeat at the hands of Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan on Tuesday night.

The live-wire attacker, who has scored four goals in his last five matches, says his side are ready to put in 90-minutes of high intensity effort against the Victory on Saturday night.

“When we play our best, we can beat anyone. We’ve shown that when we beat Sydney, we’ve shown that when we had a very good 45 minutes against Adelaide,” Wenzel-Halls said.

“But it’s about turning that 45 minutes into a 90-minute performance and I think if we play well for 90 minutes we can beat anyone.”

The 21-year-old, added a more consistent performance across the 90 minutes is a goal he’d also set for himself on an individual level.

“I’m obviously happy to keep scoring, as a striker all you want to score in every game you play. I’m just looking to provide goals, score goals and contribute to the team,” Wenzel-Halls added.

“I want to put in more complete 90-minute performances because that’s something I personally want to improve on.”

Wenzel-Halls added a strong week on the training park in sweltering conditions in Brisbane has the Roar well prepared for Saturday night’s challenges.

“It’s only going to make us better training in those kinds of conditions. We’re only out to improve, build on recent performances and put things right,” he stated.

“They’re a good opposition and its always a good battle in Melbourne. It should be a great atmosphere and a good day for football.”
