The weekend ahead: Silverware on offer

Brisbane Roar head into this weekend with the chance a shot at bringing home two pieces of silverware.

After finishing top of Conference A, our Young Roar have earned their spot in the Foxtel Y-League decider while our Roar Women remain in contention for a second straight Westfield W-League Premiership ahead of the final round of the season.

On Saturday, our Hyundai A-League side also will be looking to harvest momentum from last weekend’s stunning comeback to spur them to a first win of 2019.

Foxtel Y-League Grand Final: Western Sydney Wanderers v Young Roar

ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Friday, 1 February (3:20pm KO QLD time)

A 2-0 win away to Melbourne Victory on Friday was enough for our Young Roar to pip Melbourne City for the Conference A title & earn their spot in Friday’s decider.

They’ll face Conference B winners Western Sydney who qualified in unusual circumstances as their do-or-die final round clash against Sydney FC ended prematurely due to inclement weather.

It’s been almost four years since the Club’s two youth sides went head-to-head, with the Young Roar winning the last meeting 3-2 back in February 2015.

Our most senior BRFC Academy side head into the decider with a 5-1-2 record throughout Season 2018/19, having also won four of their last five fixtures.

The Grand Final will be televised LIVE on Fox Sports Ch 505 & streamed on the MyFootball Live App.

Young Roar

Westfield W-League: Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar

Marden Sports Complex, Adelaide
Friday, 1 February (6:30pm KO QLD time)

Friday’s three-goal win over Canberra booked a second straight Westfield W-League finals appearance & our Roar Women are still in contention for the season’s first piece of silverware.

Our Roar Women head into the final round in second place, trailing leaders Melbourne Victory on goal difference, knowing a win away to the Reds on Friday night would at a minimum secure a home Semi-Final.

Adelaide took all three points in the only previous meeting this season, but the Roar Women have never lost an away fixture against the Reds (W5, D1).

Hyundai A-League: Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar

Coopers Stadium, Adelaide
Saturday, 2 February (6:50pm QLD time)

Our Hyundai A-League head back on the road to the City of Churches, eyeing a maiden win of 2019.

An incredible two-goal turnaround at the death to rescue a point against the Wanderers on Friday night will have the Roar buoyed for the second trip to Adelaide this season.

The Reds took the points in the last meeting back in Round 6, but the Roar lead the ledger in 23 previous meetings in Adelaide (W11, D4, L8).

Fresh from scoring his 50th Hyundai A-League goal last weekend, Adam Taggart will be looking to add to his season tally of 10 goals & move alongside the leaders in the Golden Boot race.

Tune into Fox Sports Ch 505, or the MyFootball Live App from 6:50pm on Saturday night.
