Brisbane Roar midfielder Stefan Mauk says he & his teammates won’t be taking Saturday’s training match at the Club’s 2019/20 Kit Launch at Logan Metro Sports Park lightly.

Roar fans will not only get the chance to see the Club’s new threads, they’ll also get the chance to see the team play in the new kits for the first time with the squad set to play out a training match at Saturday’s kit launch.

Mauk says fans should expect a high-octane encounter as his teammates vie for playing spots ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.

“If you watch our training sessions, even if it’s only small-sided games, everyone wants to win,” Mauk said.

“Everyone wants to play well and I guess that then translates into competitive games when you’re training with that same intensity.”

The 23-year-old added he’d been impressed with the level of intensity shown on the training pitch by his side during pre-season.

“Everything we’ve been doing so far, whether it’s small-sided games, possession or bigger games, we’ve probably been going for longer periods of time than what I’ve done previously.”

“I think that gives you that winning mentality because every training session, you’re going out there to try and win.

“Every player likes to play games so you’re having fun out there which normally results in you playing well.

Mauk is one of a short list of players returning from the Club’s 2018/19 Hyundai A-League squad following an off season that’s seen 13 new faces arrive under new Head Coach Robbie Fowler.

The former NEC Nijmegen midfielder said the qualities brought in by his new teammates would greatly benefit his side ahead of the new season.

“You look at all those teams that have won before – they’ve had that competitiveness and that aggression with and without the ball,” Mauk added.

“I think that’s something with bringing in the players from England, they’ve all got that mentality, they’ve all know what it’s like to fight but also in terms of playing good football. I think we’ve got a great mix.”
