Brisbane Roar will kick off the Westfield W-League 2012/13 season with a highly-anticipated Grand Final re-match against Canberra United at McKellar Park in four weeks time.

The official draw, released today by Football Federation Australia today, has 12 rounds of competition with the finals series set to commence in mid-January and this year includes a new team in Western Sydney Wanderers.

“It-s been a long off-season but we-re ready to get back in the swing of things,” said Brisbane Roar player Brooke Spence.

“Canberra in round one is going to be extremely tough, they-re a strong team but we-re looking forward to the challenge.”

This season, the Roar will split their home games across three different Brisbane venues – Cleveland Showgrounds, AJ Kelly Park at Kippa-Ring and Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre at Nathan.

Brisbane-s first home game sees them face long-time Westfield W-League rivals Sydney FC for the first time since the last season-s fiery semi-final clash on Saturday, November 3 at Cleveland.

“I think Sydney are going to have a point to prove after the semi-final last year,” Spence said.

“It-ll have some feeling to it but we-re looking forward to each and every game of the season.”

New Head Coach Belinda Wilson is expected to confirm her squad over the next week with player information to be available on the Brisbane Roar website once finalised.
