A core group of homegrown heroes have signed on for our Roar Women’s Westfield W-League Premiership defence in season 2018/19.
BRFC is delighted to announce that Katrina Gorry, Abbey Lloyd, Summer O'Brien, Natalie Tathem, Allira Toby and Kaitlyn Torpey have committed their futures in Roar Orange.
With the kick-off to season 11 fast approaching, the Roar Women will be looking to hit the ground running on home turf in Round 1 at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday, 28 October against a talented Perth Glory lineup.
“There’s something special about this club and I always look forward to coming back home and being a part of this talented group,” 75-time Westfield Matilda Katrina Gorry said.
Having spent her youth playing for Mt Gravatt Hawks before progressing to the Queensland Academy of Sport, Gorry will once again be a player to watch this season.
“I’m really excited to be putting the orange jersey back on for season 11 of the Westfield W-league. I can’t wait for round one!” Gorry added.
Local talents Allira Toby, Natalie Tathem and Kaitlyn Torpey have furthered their careers in Australia's elite female football competition in previous years while maintaining their Brisbane roots - all three players are products of NPL QLD outfit, Olympic FC.
Former Gap FC defender Summer O'Brien will return to the heart of Roar's backline, while Toowoomba junior Abbey Lloyd will once again be a threat for opposing defences in season 2018/19.
“This group of footballers all make a significant and important contribution to helping us achieve our goals that ultimately brings success," Head Coach Mel Andreatta said.
“I’m delighted they’ve all committed their future to Roar Orange.”
Brisbane Roar's Premiership-winning Westfield W-League side will be hunting a third Championship in season 2018/19 in what is sure to be another fiercely-competitive competition.
