Short turnaround not a concern for Roar Women

Our Roar Women are on a high after their thrilling win over top-of-the-table Melbourne Victory on Sunday.

The win puts the Roar in third spot on the Westfield W-League ladder ahead of their clash tonight against the Western Sydney Wanderers at Dolphin Stadium.

Head Coach Mel Andretta says her side is beaming with positivity after a gripping win over the Victory.

“We take a lot of confidence forward,” Andreatta said at the side’s final pre-match training session.

“It was a performance we’ve been working hard towards and it shows the discipline and commitment from the group to the way we want to play.”

Despite the short turnaround to Thursday night’s game against the Wanderers, the Roar are keen to get amongst it again at a venue that suits their style of play.

“It’s nice to have two home games back-to-back and it will give us that extra little push that we need from our fantastic fans,” Andretta added.

“What a facility here [Dolphin Stadium] — this is really going to suit our style of play and we’re really looking forward to it.”

Last time these sides met in Round 2, Brisbane took maximum points whilst also holding their first clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 win at Marconi Stadium.

Recovery was the first point on the agenda following Sunday’s slog in the rain, but Andreatta is confident her side will be ready to hit the ground running in Redcliffe.

“Everyone’s looking good, recovery was a big focus after that match,” Andretta said.

“We did important work on Tuesday as well so we’re ready to roll on the front foot against Western Sydney,” Andreatta concluded.
