Roar Women ready to bounce back

Roar Women Head Coach Jake Goodship is expecting a positive reaction from his side when they face Canberra United on the road on Thursday night (6:30pm KO QLD time).

The Roar Women enter the clash on the back of a defeat against the Wanderers last Thursday night, but have showed terrific potential in both of their opening fixtures.

Goodship says his side need to turn positive patches into a complete performance if they’re to take full points home from Canberra.

“We need to play consistently for 90 minutes, take our key chances and key moments in the game and it should swing in our favour,” Goodship said.

“The players have worked really hard in training because they’re determined to turn the moments and performances into results.”

The Roar boast a strong record against the side from the capital and are undefeated in their past four meetings including a pair of 4-1 victories in that time.

“We don’t take the history into account, we respect it but a lot of clubs have changed personnel, changed their style, structure and coaching staff,” Goodship added.

“They’ll [Canberra United] be tough, they play different formations than we’re used to and they’ll cause issues with different aspects of their game but we’re confident and prepared.

Amongst the highlights of the opening two performances was a maiden Westfield W-League goal for new striker Rylee Baisden which Goodship hopes can propel her season forward.

“Hopefully, it’s the first of many – she’s creating for others and been in positions to score herself which is a massive positive for Rylee [Baisden],” the new Head Coach continued.
