Roar Women pumped for home return

Our Roar Women are hungry for another three points on their home return tomorrow against Sydney FC at Lions Stadium (5pm KO).

After passing a stern test from Melbourne City last weekend, the Roar will be looking to take control of tomorrow’s contest against the Sky Blues.

Goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold, who last week recorded her league-high third clean sheet of the season, is hoping her side can put together another whole-team performance.

“The game on the weekend [against City] was absolutely crazy — massive credit to the back four, but I think it was a whole team effort,” Arnold said on Friday.

“We really came together as a unit. It was important for us to do that for the whole 90 minutes and we did.”

Since December’s defeat to the Sky Blues in Sydney, the Roar have embarked on a four-game unbeaten run — a streak that includes three victories.

Arnold, who currently leads the league in clean sheets & fewest goals conceded, says the squad aren’t concerning themselves with the last meeting & simply focusing on the job at hand.

“We’ve put that in the back of our mind, we’ll treat it like any other game and focus on what we’ve been working on,” Arnold continued.

“We prepare for every game with the same routines, a clean sheet is always positive moving forward.”

Hayley Raso is in line for her first appearance in Brisbane orange in almost a year following a lengthy recovery from a serious back injury sustained in September.

She is one of three inclusions for the clash alongside Indiah-Paige Riley & Kaitlyn Torpey, while English attacker Chioma Ubogagu is away on International duty.

After two games on the road, our Roar Women are looking to consolidate a top-four spot in front of a strong home crowd.

“It’s been a while since we’ve been at home. It’s always a good atmosphere out there and we’re all looking forward to it,” Arnold concluded.

Gates open at 4pm this Saturday at Lions Stadium with kick-off at 5pm. Please note: Parking will be available in the Masters car park across the road from Lions Stadium.
