Roar Women out to finish campaign on a high

Our Brisbane Roar Women will round out its Westfield W-League 2019/20 campaign this afternoon in Melbourne.

Western Sydney’s win in Perth on Saturday means the Roar Women are out of the race for finals football, but will be looking cause a stir against the premiers.

Captain Clare Polkinghorne is confident that her side can build on the team’s previous meeting early in 2020 and stun City at AAMI Park this afternoon.

“They’re obviously a quality outfit, we’ve played them once already this season. In that game, we stuck it to them for the majority of the game, and they came out on top,” Polkinghorne said.

“We’ll be looking to turn that around, but they’re a great side with class all over the pitch so it’ll be a tough game for us.

The Roar are coming off a five-star performance against Canberra United at Lions Stadium last Sunday in arguably their finest attacking display of the season.

“We’ve been building throughout the season & we had a great performance last week against Canberra. We’ll be looking to take that form in to the game,” she added.
