BRFC are pleased to announce the signing of Australian representative Mackenzie Arnold as well as a core group of players for the upcoming Westfield W-League season.

Born on the Gold Coast, Arnold (below) says it’s great to be back playing football in her home state.

“As a Queenslander, it’s an honour to sign for the Brisbane Roar Football Club,” she said.

“I’m really excited about the new W-League season and can’t wait to play Sydney FC on November 5.

“It’s great to be joining such a successful group of players and I’m really happy to be home.”

The 22-year old goalkeeper represented Australia at the Rio Games in August and joins fellow national representatives Katrina Gorry (below) and captain Clare Polkinghorne, both of whom have re-signed with Brisbane Roar.

The 2016-17 squad features seven new faces from the 2015-16 group who narrowly missed a Grand Final appearance.

The Roar have added some international flavour into the squad with American midfielder Maddy Evans signing from Orlando Pride and Danish defender Nina Frausing-Pedersen signing from Swedish outfit FC Rosengård.

Midfielder Sunny Franco returns to Brisbane following a season with Sydney FC while goalkeeper Georgina Worth has joined the Roar from Canberra United.

Brisbane’s 2015-16 Player of the Year Angela Beard (below) has re-signed in Brisbane alongside Young Matilda Cortnee Vine, Maili Forbes, Amy Chapman, Brooke Spence and Summer O’Brien. See below for the full list of players.

The Roar will kick-off season nine of the Westfield W-League on Saturday, 5 November and Head Coach Mel Andreatta can’t wait for the season to get underway.

“It’s great that this group of committed footballers who love the club can now focus on the upcoming [Westfield] W-League campaign,” she said.

“As a squad we’ve been working extremely hard throughout pre-season and we can’t wait for that first game against one of our biggest rivals, Sydney FC.

“I believe we have the players to have a successful season in what will be a highly competitive Westfield W-League competition.”

Brisbane Roar are the most successful side in the Westfield W-League’s eight-season history (alongside Sydney FC and Canberra United) having won two Premierships in 2008-09 and 2012-13 as well as two Championships in 2008-09 and 2010-11.
