Westfield W-League debutant Mariel Hecher is one of three Roar players to have earned spots in the first Westfield W-League Team of the Week for the 2020/21 season.
Hecher was a handful in attack for the Melbourne City defence, creating seven chances in her maiden Westfield W-League appearance – four more than any other player on the park.
She is joined by fourth-gamer Winonah Heatley, who was superb on the right side of defence for Jake Goodship’s side. The teenager defender made a game-high 107 touches and looked right at home in her second Westfield W-League campaign.
The ever-consistent Clare Polkinghorne also marked her return to the Westfield W-League with a typically air-tight performance in the heart of defence, also earning her spot in the Round 1 Team of the Week.
The Roar continue its Westfield W-League campaign with an away date against Melbourne Victory at CB Smith Reserve on Sunday evening (5:05pm kick-off QLD time).
