Roar striker Jamie Maclaren has continued his sensational goal-scoring form by netting the winner for the Australian Under-23s in their international friendly against Turkey in Istanbul.

Fellow Roar players, defender James Donachie and winger Brandon Borrello, also started the match for the Olyroos.

Maclaren continued his sparkling pre-season form with a clinical finish past the keeper in the 13th minute.

The winner came less than a week after Maclaren (below) netted an eye-popping eight goals in the Roar’s 10-0 pre-season win over a Gold Coast All-Stars select side at Southport.

The Olyroos now head to Skopje to play FYR Macedonia on Monday. The tour is part of the squad’s preparations for January’s Olympic Games qualifiers (AFC U23 Championships) in Doha.

Young Roar striker Nick D’Agostino (below in action for Brisbane) was also on fire for the Joeys with a goal inside the first 10 minutes in a hard-fought 2-1 win over French club side Stade Rennais (Youth) in Limoges.

D’Agostino was set up by a nice pass from Daniel Arzani and showed great composure to slot the ball past the advancing keeper.

The match was part of the Joeys’ European Tour as they prepare for October’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.

The played a 1-1 draw with the United States Under-17 side on Thursday and next face France Under-17 in Limoges on Sunday.
