Brisbane Roar players brought some festive cheer to kids at the new Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital yesterday, visiting wards as guests of the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Shane Stefanutto, Jade North, Luke Brattan, Jack Hingert and Corey Brown signed autographs, posed for photographs and handed out merchandise to the hospital’s young patients and their families.

Stefanutto said it was inspiring to see the smiles on the faces of dozens of young patients at the hospital.

“It’s a special opportunity especially around Christmas time which is so important to kids,” he said.

“They are so brave and so happy, the smiles on their faces puts a smile on yours.

“It is great to be able to do that in the position we are in and hopefully we have brightened their day a little because they have brighten up ours.”

Nick Van Dyke, Director of Volunteer and Entertainment Services at the Children’s Hospital Foundation said the visit was a ‘‘chance to give kids, and their families, a reason to smile’’.

‘‘Brisbane Roar players visiting the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital will certainly provide a welcome distraction for so many sick kids and their families as they always enjoy having photos or a chat with their sporting heroes,” he said.
