Brisbane Roar Head Coach Robbie Fowler says he was delighted with his side’s showing as they ran out 3-0 winners over Redlands United in his first match in charge at Logan Metro Sports Park on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Mirza Muratovic, Rahmat Akbari and Aaron Amadi-Holloway sealed the victory in front of a 2,122 strong crowd at the Roar’s City of Logan Training Facility.

Muratovic opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finding space on the edge of the area and blasting the ball past visiting keeper Jack Richards into the bottom corner.

Akbari sent the Roar into the break with a two-goal buffer after putting the finishing touch on a well-worked team goal in the dying stages of the first half.

Welshman Amadi-Holloway marked his first match in Roar orange with a goal, coolly finishing from a tight angle after being played in by fellow new boy Brad Inman.

Saturday’s match brought the side’s second week of pre-season to an end ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season, and the Head Coach said he was extremely pleased with the progress shown by his players.

“We’ve been back a couple of weeks now working to implement what we did on the pitch, I think it’s been good today,” Fowler said.

“It was a good performance, a few little things to work on but I think the general play today was fantastic. I’m delighted with how the lads went.”

Saturday’s match was played in front of a terrific crowd at Logan Metro Sports Park with Fowler delighted by the turn out.

“Everyone knows how good and how special this club can be, to turn out in our training venue and get 2,000 people here to come and watch us, I think that’s first class.”

The Roar will return to Logan Metro Sports Park next Saturday for another pre-season clash against another NPL QLD opponent in Brisbane City FC (3pm KO).
