Ahead of Saturday-s Westfield W-League clash, Roar coach Jeff Hopkins says his team are more than ready to take on a resurgent Perth Glory outfit.
With two wins, a draw and a loss to their name, the Glory are sitting in third position on the ladder just three points behind the Roar - a far cry from their second-last placing in the 2008/09 season.
Perth Glory will be, however, without influential Matilda Lisa de Vanna, who is suspended, and last week-s super sub Sam Kerr who is on international duty.
Despite dropping two points for the first time this season last weekend against Sydney FC, Hopkins said his side had been training well during the week and had a lot of momentum going into the game.
“After the second half performance, there was a positive feeling in the changing room to take into the weekend-s game,” Hopkins said.
“We started the game poorly, but the team showed a lot of character to turn things around in the second half.”
He said his side understood the importance of keeping positive in tough times and knew his squad would carry it through to the game against Perth.
“Even though it was an own goal, it got us back into the game and that came down to our positive attitude which I-m sure the team will bring into the Perth game.”
The former Wales International said that he felt his side were slightly unlucky.
“We created some good opportunities after the break, and with slightly better finishing we would have won the game.
“That-s what we-ll be aiming to fix tomorrow”.
The corresponding fixture last season saw an eight-goal thriller, with the Roar scoring two goals in the final minutes to snatch a win from the west.
However, club captain Clare Polkinghorne said she was hoping to keep things tight at the back this time around.
“It was a very entertaining game but not one we were really proud of,” the centre back said.
“But we learned a lot from it and hopefully this time we can avoid letting in so many goals.”
With over 20 Matildas squad members between the two teams this Westfield W-League clash is not to be missed.
Kick-off is at the new time of 2pm, Saturday 31 October at Ballymore Stadium, Clyde Road, Herston.
Tickets are available at the gate - $5 for adults, $2 for concessions and free for Roar members.
