NEWS: Roar proud to support Starlight Children's Foundation

Brisbane Roar are proud to announce that Starlight Children’s Foundation will be gifted the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor, beginning this Friday night at Suncorp Stadium against Adelaide United.

The two organisations established a strong relationship during the Hyundai A-League 2016-17 season and the Roar was proud to have Starlight as their match-day charity partner for the game against Melbourne Victory in March.

In excess of $9,600 was raised that night, ensuring more than 246 children would have access to Starlight’s in hospital programs in Queensland.

The Club has been unable to find a major partner and will feature Starlight’s branding on the front of its kits in the short-term.

“We have been searching hard for a major partner. Unfortunately, for the time being, we have been unable to secure the right organisation for our club,” Brisbane Roar Managing Director Mark Kingsman said.

“The Starlight Children’s Foundation, whose mission is to brighten the lives of seriously-ill children, young people and their families, will gain great exposure from being our front-of-shirt sponsor we believe.

“The club hopes this partnership will help raise awareness of the fine work this charity does for children in need. We encourage any fans who would like to show their support to visit Starlight’s website - www.starlight.org.au."


Last year, Starlight granted 525 life-changing wishes and delivered more than 425,000 Starlight experiences to sick kids and their families around Australia.

“As Starlight relies solely on community support to deliver our in hospital and community programs, we couldn’t do what we do without the generosity of organisations like the Brisbane Roar. We’re very proud of our partnership and grateful to be gifted this incredible opportunity to be featured on the Brisbane Roar shirt,” Queensland’s State Partnership Manager for Starlight Tracey Tomlin said. 

Independent research company, Future Sport & Entertainment, measured the net multimedia value of the front-of-shirt sponsorship in the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season at just under $3.5 million, as such the best option for the long-term growth strategy of the Club is to be patient in selecting the next major partner.
