Roar hungry to get back to winning ways

Brisbane Roar will take a finals-esque mentality into tomorrow night’s Hyundai A-League clash with Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium.

With 11 rounds remaining in season 2017/18, the Roar find themselves outside the top six and will treat the remainder of the campaign as an extended finals campaign.

“We now have 11 finals and tomorrow is the first one – Brisbane Roar have usually done well in finals,” Head Coach John Aloisi said following the side’s final pre-match training session on Wednesday morning.

The Head Coach praised the intensity shown by his squad at training today also.

“They [the players] are desperate to win – they want to win. The players are as disappointed as anyone that we haven’t been winning the football games that we should be,” Aloisi said.

“They’ll give everything tomorrow – they’re the ones driving that finals mentality this week.”

Thursday night's clash will be Brisbane’s second against the Glory in less than a month with the visitors taking the points on their last trip to Suncorp Stadium back in Round 12.

Gameiro

Perth has lost four consecutive matches since that day, managing to find the back of the net in just one of those fixtures, setting up a mouth-watering clash that both clubs will be desperate to win.

“It’s like a final for them as well. They’re coming here after four losses and there are quite a few players out – they’re in quite a similar position to the one we’ve been in without so many players out this season,” Aloisi said.

“It’s an important game for both clubs and I’m sure they’ll be up for it as we will.”

In a boost for the home side, Socceroos attacker Brett Holman has been named in Brisbane’s 18-man squad, as has dangerous attacker Corey Gameiro.

Holman’s last Hyundai A-League match was back in Round 8.

“We have quite a few players coming back who are ready to play and we’re excited about the squad we can put out tomorrow night,” Aloisi said.

“He [Brett Holman] was brilliant in training – he looks sharp, hungry and ready to go and that’s only a good sign for us.”
