Brisbane Roar has finalised details of their pre-season campaign which now includes matches against both of Melbourne’s Hyundai A-League clubs, champions Central Coast Mariners and traditional rivals Sydney FC.
Brisbane Roar has finalised details of their pre-season campaign which now includes matches against both of Melbourne-s Hyundai A-League clubs, champions Central Coast Mariners and traditional rivals Sydney FC.
After releasing details of their matches against local opposition in May, the Roar has confirmed the team will travel to Ipswich, Cairns and Lismore for these newly-announced fixtures in August and September.
A location for the match against the Mariners is yet to be confirmed.
Head Coach Mike Mulvey is confident the matches would provide his squad with preparation needed for a strong Hyundai A-League campaign, ahead of his first full season in charge of the club.
“We-re leading into a very important season for the club which means it is imperative we make sure our pre-season is well-planned as well,” Mulvey said.
“We want to play regular football and work on all aspects of our game as well as visiting Roar fans that live in different areas around Queensland and northern New South Wales who may not get to see us play regularly.
“These matches against strong A-League opposition will allow us to strive for good performances, solid results and equally importantly, team cohesion within the playing group.”
The Brisbane club already has matches against Lions FC, Albany Creek Excelsior, Brisbane City, Brisbane Strikers, Wynnum Wolves, Palm Beach and Western Pride scheduled across July, August and September.
