Brisbane Roar returned to their best form with a convincing 3-0 Westfield W-League win over Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts led 2-0 at half time thanks to well-worked goals from Tameka Butt and Emily Gielnik.

Traffic continued in the same direction after the break, with Butt grabbing her second of the night and the Roar’s third.

Brisbane dominated the early proceedings, creating a host of chances with some slick passing through the middle.

A fluid Roar build up resulted in the opening goal, with Brook Spence feeding Raso, who weighted her pass perfectly for Butt to knock into the back of the net.

Raso was at it again a few minutes later, cutting through the Adelaide defence to set up Gielnik, who slid a neat finish into the bottom corner.

There was some improvement from Adelaide after the break, but the Roar were still the side making most of the play.

Kristy Moore just missed the best chance of the match for the visitors when she could not get a foot on a cross to turn it into the net.

Butt broke past an advanced Adelaide defence in the 74th minute to streak away on goal and finish coolly past the keeper for 3-0.

Elise Kellond-Knight missed a golden chance to extend the home side’s lead when her shot skimmed the post after she had received the ball with only Barbieri to beat.

The Roar hung on easily for the thumping win, and could have even extended their advantage with several late chances.
