Brisbane Roar has bowed out of Westfield W-League Season 10 following a 2-0 Semi-Final defeat against defending champions Melbourne City at Perry Park.
A 3,870-strong crowd bared a scorching Brisbane afternoon with ten Westfield Matildas taking the field for the mouthwatering clash, but it was the visitors who prevailed with two second-half strikes.
City’s Aivi Luik was able to break through for the visitors' first goal in three fixtures against the Roar this season, hitting the back of the net from beyond the area in the 65th minute.
Jessica Fishlock doubled the lead six minutes later with a looping shot after being played through on goal behind the Roar defence.
Brisbane's best chance came late in the second half through Abbey Lloyd whose header came desperately close to crossing the line off the underside of the crossbar.
Winger Hayley Raso, who provided a constant threat out wide in attack for the hosts, was understandably disappointed with the result.
“We tried to fight back today, but it just wasn’t enough - they just played a bit better today," Raso said.
"At the end of the day, you have to turn up for these games - Melbourne City did and unfortunately we didn’t.
“We are already hungry to get back out there and start again for next season. The wait is on.”
