Brisbane Roar is proud to announce it will be the major naming rights sponsor of the Silver Boot pre-season football tournament which kicks off next week.

The Brisbane Roar Silver Boot is Brisbane-s premier pre-season competition and has been a hotly contested title for more than 10 years.

This year-s tournament will be played at Luxury Paints Stadium, Richlands with the opening round of fixtures kicking off on Tuesday, January 19 at 6.30pm when Olympic face the Mt Gravatt Hawks.

Ten of this year-s 16 combatants will be drawn from the Brisbane Premier League, including Taringa Rovers, Peninsula Power, Rochedale Rovers and Olympic FC.

The Brisbane Strikers Queensland State League team will also take part in the tournament with the remaining five participating teams playing out of Premier Division 1 of the BPL.

Brisbane Roar-s naming rights sponsorship of the competition will also include a newly created award for the player of the tournament.

The player adjudged to have been the best across the competition will be awarded with the Brisbane Roar Silver Boot Player of the Tournament, which carries a prize of $1000.

Brisbane Roar coach Ange Postecoglou said the sponsorship was a further strengthening of ties between the Hyundai A-League club and local football community.

“Local clubs are a vital pathway not only to Brisbane Roar in the Hyundai A-League, but also to the Socceroos,” Postecoglou said.

“We have begun to develop greater relationships with the local clubs and this is just another small step in that process.”
