Brisbane Roar will continue its commitment to bringing top-level football to Queensland’s regional areas with a pre-season trip to the Fraser Coast region this weekend

The Club’s Hyundai A-League side, led by new Head Coach Robbie Fowler, will head to the Fraser Coast region less than a month before the commencement of Season 2019/20.

The trip will include a number of community engagements with the local community, as well as a pre-season fixture against a Football Wide Bay Select outfit on Saturday, 21 September at the Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct (5pm KO).

The 300km+ journey adds more kilometres to the Roar’s pre-season roadtrip, which has already included visits to Sydney & a week-long pre-season camp in Gladstone.

Brisbane Roar CEO David Pourre says the pre-season trip will provide another great chance for more Queenslanders to see the State’s only Hyundai A-League squad up close & personal.

“We recognise that we are not only a club for Brisbane, but for the whole of Queensland and we’re delighted to be heading to the Fraser Coast next month,” Pourre said.

“We would like to thank the Fraser Regional Council for its support, and we can’t wait to head to the region in the coming weeks.”

Football fans will also be able to rub shoulders with the Roar’s Hyundai A-League stars at a Team Dinner on Thursday, 19 September at the Hervey Bay RSL, hosted by the Hervey Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour says the Roar’s visit is an incredible opportunity for the region.

“We’re encouraging everyone in the community to make the most of having an elite football team on the Fraser Coast,” Cr Seymour said.

“The Roar visit will be a major boost for the entire Fraser coast football community – the junior and senior players, their families, the coaches and the fans.

“There will be plenty of chances for local football fans to meet Brisbane Roar players prior to the big game, including during open training sessions and at the special team dinner.”
