Information regarding rescheduling of Brisbane Roar fixtures.
The recent floods in Brisbane lead to the postponement of the original fixture on January 16 and the continued unavailability of Suncorp Stadium due to flood damage has forced the club to seek an alternative venue.
The rescheduling of the Phoenix match has also meant Football Federation Australia has had to move the club-s match against Melbourne Heart originally scheduled for January 28.
That fixture will now be played on Saturday, Janaury 29, also at Skilled Park – kick-off for the match is 4.30pm.
Brisbane Roar CEO Peter McLennan said it was a difficult decision to take the games out of Brisbane, but with the current circumstances in the Queensland capital it was the best option.
“We were very mindful of our members, fans and corporate partners in making this decision, but we also did not want to stretch the city-s police and traffic resources at this time,” McLennan said.
“These are very difficult and unusual circumstances, ones which have stretched everyone to the limit in Brisbane.
“Skilled Park provides us with the best option for both our members and corporate partners.
“While it is further away than normal, we hope our fans can rally behind the team as they push towards the end of the season and attempt to secure top spot leading into the finals.”
Anyone who holds a ticket for the matches originally scheduled for Suncorp Stadium will have those tickets honoured at Skilled Park.
The club are currently working closely with Ticketek to have tickets for the matches on sale as soon as possible.
Tickets will provide free public transport to Robina via Queensland Rail train services, Brisbane City Council bus services and the Surfside bus network.
When they are available for sale, fans are encouraged to pre-purchase their tickets as they will not be able to access the free public transport services without a ticket.
