Brisbane Roar has played out a scoreless draw in the Club’s maiden appearance at the new Bankwest Stadium against the undefeated Western Sydney Wanderers.

The Roar dominated large portions of the game and created the better chances, but were unable to find a breakthrough goal with Wanderers keeper Daniel Lopar forced into action regularly.

The result keeps the Roar’s unbeaten away record for the 2019/20 season intact, whilst also earning the squad’s first clean sheet of the campaign.

Speaking post-match, captain Tom Aldred believed his team deserved more from the contest.

“We kept a clean sheet which gives us something to build on, but we feel like we deserved the three points,” Aldred said post-match.

“The goals will come, we’re a brand new team. We have full confidence in everyone in the squad to score and once we get one, more will come – there’s massive success to be achieved here.”

The Roar fired 16 shots at Lopar’s goal, with the Roar’s best chance denied by back-to-back goal-line clearances early in the second half.

The results is the Roar’s second from as many appearances on the road this campaign, with an away date against Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium next Sunday (5pm KO QLD time) next on the agenda.
