Brisbane Roar defeated Sydney FC 2-0 in a behind-closed-doors match at the Sky Blues' Macquarie University training facility on Saturday.
In the Roar's final pre-season game against Hyundai A-League opposition before Round 1 against Melbourne City on October 6, first-half goals to Italian marquee Massimo Maccarone and in-form attacker Petros Skapetis helped secure an impressive away win.
The victory against the 2016/17 Champions will give John Aloisi's squad positive momentum with under a month until the new season gets underway.
Maccarone was once again a standout for the boys in Orange, adding to his pre-season goal tally, which now stands at five.
New recruit Petros Skapetis also hit the back of the net making it six goals since joining the Club.
In an afternoon full of positives, Brisbane's defence once again held firm making it back-to-back pre-season clean sheets after last week's 3-0 win against Yeronga-based Olympic FC.
As the countdown to season 13 gets nearer, Roar fans will be pleased to hear former Australian under-23 international Corey Gameiro made a successful comeback playing the final 20 minutes of the contest.
Gameiro looked dangerous in attack and came close to scoring on debut for Brisbane with a well-timed header at the back post that was well saved.
Head Coach John Aloisi used Saturday's game against Graham Arnold's side to get more valuable pre-season minutes into the likes of youngsters Rahmat Akbari, Shannon Brady, Joe Caletti and Nick D'Agostino.
Brisbane will now prepare for City at AAMI Park on Friday, October 6 with two internal 11 v 11 matches over the next two weeks.
