Report: Roar up and running in pre-season

Brisbane Roar capped a fulfilling Fraser Coast camp with a 13-1 win over a Wide Bay Select side in Saturday's exhibition match.

Alex Parsons and Cyrus Dehmie were among three players to strike twice as 10 different Roar players found the net in front of hundreds of fans at the Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct.

Jez Lofthouse also grabbed a double while fellow trialist Matt Ridenton provided the opening goal, his effort from the edge of the area slipping through goalkeeper Jason McEwan's hands.

Parsons tucked away a neat right-footed finish not long later before Luke Ivanovic and Rahmat Akbari supplied tap-ins either side of a composed one-on-one finish from Lofthouse.

That flurry improved the margin to five and there was still time for Parsons and Lofthouse to each add one more prior to the interval, their second goals both coming from inside the area.

Warren Moon injected fresh legs for the second half and was rewarded with quickfire strikes from Dehmie, Eli Adams and Nikola Mileusnić.

Jesse Daley made no mistake from the spot following a foul on Dehmie, who then sealed his brace with a tidy downward header.

Wide Bay Select skipper and former Western Pride player Joel Haack momentarily turned the tide by producing a fine solo effort amid the goal rush.

But it was Brisbane who had the final say when Keegan Jelacic etched his name on the scoresheet, the 19-year-old round out a positive first pre-season performance for the Roar.

The final scoreline will ultimately matter little in the broader context of a successful five-day camp filled with fun community engagements, meet and greets and quality training time.
