Match report: Reds v Roar

A late goal has seen Brisbane Roar suffer a narrow defeat on the road to Adelaide United on Sunday evening.

An 84th-minute goal from Riley McGree proved decisive despite a strong finish from the Roar, who went close to opening the scoring on a number of occasions throughout the second half.

Brisbane were desperately unlucky to not open the scoring close to the hour mark with an initial shot from Scott Neville saved by Paul Izzo, before a follow-up shot was blocked by a defender.

“First half – we weren’t great, we’ll admit that. Second half – we were much better, but we didn’t take our chances,” Head Coach Robbie Fowler said post-match.

“We do a lot of finishing, as we do for all aspects of the game. But if we keep missing chances, it makes football matches a little bit harder.

“Today it hasn’t happened, but we’ll kick on, take it on the chin and move. We’ll keep working hard, as we always do, and we will get it right.”
