Report + Highlights: Roar beaten on the road

Scott Neville and Bruce Kamau

Brisbane Roar’s season-long unbeaten run in New South Wales came to an end in a 2-0 loss to Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday evening.

Bernie Ibini’s first-half strike and a late sealer from Bruce Kamau won Western Sydney the points at Bankwest Stadium in a game that could well have ended differently.

The Roar created numerous quality openings and tallied 20 shots but were unable to find a way past man-of-the-match Daniel Margush.

Brisbane remain fifth going into a massive final week of the regular season, with crucial home games against Perth Glory on Wednesday night and Sydney FC on Saturday afternoon to determine the team’s ladder position.
