Trials for Brisbane Roar’s new junior Talent ID U9 – U12 program for the 2020 season will begin next week.

Since its inception in 2018, the BRFC Academy has proven itself as an established pathway between Queensland’s junior football ranks and the Hyundai A-League.

Beginning in 2020, the new Talent ID program will move in place of the pre-existing pre-Academy program. The program will serve to provide an environment where players can excel to become the best footballers they can, and provide a seamless transition for selected players, aged 9-12 years, into the Club’s two-star Academy, which begins at an U13 level.

The revamped format will allow more budding junior footballers from more regions across South-East Queensland to participate in trials over the coming weeks, and have access to a cohort of elite coaches including those with UEFA, AFC & FFA experience.

Upcoming trials, as well as training sessions for those selected in the program in 2020, will be based out of several hubs across the South-East.

  • Sunshine Coast North
  • Sunshine Coast South
  • North Brisbane
  • West Brisbane
  • East Brisbane

“Our Brisbane Roar Talent ID program allows our young footballers to be involved in an elite program,” Brisbane Roar Academy General Manager Warren Moon said.

“New hubs have been identified all across the south-east, stretching as far as the Sunshine Coast & Port Macquarie, meaning less travel time for parents, more time for kids with their families, and more enjoyment on the field for the players.

“The Talent ID program is a vital step for all our players to hopefully one day transition into our Hyundai A-League & Westfield W-League teams, and is a program we take very seriously.

“We fully respect the tremendous work done by Club coaches. Our Talent ID program is about creating an environment where our players can come in and get the best feedback and training, one night a week, allowing our highly-qualified coaches to guide and assist them in becoming better footballers.”

“We encourage young male & female players, who have a passion for becoming the best footballer they can be, to trial to be a part of our new Talent ID program in 2020.

Trials for the 2020 BRFC Talent ID program will commence next week & run once-a-week at each hub. All trialists will receive a complimentary ticket to a Hyundai A-League home game at Suncorp Stadium this season.

Players who successfully trial will commence training in February 2020. An information session for parents of selected players will also be held in early 2020.
