Over the weekend, Brisbane Roar FC announced that midfielder and budding Socceroo Adam Sarota would be joining the club for the 2014/15 season on loan from FC Utrecht.

Members and fans will have the opportunity to welcome Sarota back to Brisbane at the club’s Season Launch, this Saturday, 27 September at Perry Park from 1pm.

Speaking to the media post-training at Ballymore Stadium this morning, Head Coach Mike Mulvey highlighted the need for a squad full of both depth and quality ahead of a season that could hold up to 40 matches for his team.

“When you bring players into a team like our team, you’ve got to bring in people that are going to help improve the squad and Adam certainly does that because he’s got talent, desire – which is really important – and he’s got pedigree,” Mulvey explained.

“With him coming, it gives everybody a lift which is important towards the start of the season and he gives us competition for places.

“The key thing for any player is to be challenged and not resting on your laurels. If you’ve got someone behind you, pushing you for your place, it will bring the best out of you.”

Here’s some of the online reaction from around the league and Brisbane Roar members and fans on the one year signing of the 25-year-old Queenslander, who previously played for the club between 2008 and 2010.
