Our Roar Women are gearing up for their final home game of the Westfield W-League regular season & what would be an important three points on Friday afternoon against Canberra United.

The contest is the first of two matches in Friday’s double header at Suncorp Stadium (4:20pm KO).

The Round 13 fixture will be the Roar’s second of the season at Suncorp Stadium, but could be Hayley Raso’s first after she clocked on for her first minutes of the season against Sydney FC on Sunday.

TICKETS: Two games, one ticket this Friday at Suncorp Stadium

Stoked with her return to the orange jersey after recovering from a serious back injury, Raso said it was great to be back in front of her home fans.

Raso

“It’s been a long time coming, I was just really excited to step onto the field with the girls on the weekend,” Raso said.

“That was something I wanted in my return game, I wanted to be at home, I wanted my family to be there and all the people that have supported me along this whole journey.

“So it was so nice to step out at home in front of the Brisbane fans, friends and family.”

Friday’s contest is the first of back-to-back matches at Suncorp Stadium with the Hyundai A-League clash between the Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers to follow.

Having spent some of her Westfield W-league career at Canberra United, there is an extra edge to Friday’s game for the entertaining attacker.

Raso

“It’s really exciting and always a little bit of fun to play against an old team and have that little bit of extra motivation,” Raso continued.

“This year, they [Canberra] has brought in some new players and recruited some good internationals. It’s going to be tough but we’ll go to the drawing board, do our video analysis and work on a way to beat them.”

Just two rounds remain before finals commence with a staggering seven teams still fighting for their place in the top four.

“It [the season] has been really competitive. From the top six anyone can make the finals so these last two weeks is a real push, everybody needs the points and everybody wants a win. It’s great to come back at this time of year and help with our push for finals,” Raso stated.
