Our Young Roar return home on Sunday evening to face Olympic FC at Logan Football Complex in NPL Queensland Round 14 action.

Having spent over a month on the road, the Young Roar now play five of their next six matches at home starting with Sunday’s clash against Olympic.

Young Roar Head Coach Jake Goodship said he’s eager for the challenge as his side take on one of the league leaders on home turf.

Young Roar

“They [Olympic] set out to win every game, which is exciting for us,” Goodship said.

“Playing against one of the top teams in the league, it presents a good opportunity for our boys and a challenge for all of us.

“Any good team has weaknesses and chances to exploit those weaknesses, so we’ll be working on that.”

Despite not taking the three points, Goodship said there were plenty of positives to take from Young Roar’s last outing against Gold Coast Knights and is aiming to extend his side’s intensity for a whole 90-minute performance.

“We had several opportunities to score that you expect more experienced players to take, but we’re building on that first half last week and really going to give it a crack.”

“We’re starting to get consistent bodies and players, so we can really turn it into a 90-minute performance.”

The Young Roar also look forward to five of the next six games being played at home after a long month on the road, which is a welcome change for Goodship’s side.

“The boys are used to the facilities, used to the ground, used to the turf and being on their home patch, it’s always good to return to familiar surroundings.”
