Young Roar coach Jake Goodship says Saturday’s NPL QLD clash against Peninsula Power will provide the perfect measuring stick for his side.

The undefeated Young Roar welcome league leaders Peninsula Power to Logan Metro Sports Park for their first home match of the 2019 season (7pm KO).

After taking three wins and a draw from their opening four matches, the Young Roar could leapfrog Power at the top of the table with a victory on Saturday night.

Goodship says his side will relish the challenges Power will pose.

“It’ll be a good challenge, we’re expecting a very difficult game, a game that’s going to be very attack minded from both teams,” Goodship said.

“They’ve got some fantastic, experienced players, good coaches and staff, we’re looking forward to it.”

Goodship added that Saturday’s match would provide a valuable measure as to the progress of his young side.

“What we’d like out of the game and what we need is a reflection of where we’re at,” Goodship said.

“I’m confident in every player that wears a Roar shirt, we’ve got full belief as coaching staff and no real fear to play.”

“It’s a learning moment for the players so it’s a good chance to assess where we’re at, it’ll be good for them.”

Saturday doubles as Young Roar’s first home match of the 2019 campaign, with the NPL Queensland clash against Power headlining a day that sees all six BRFC Academy sides in action at Logan Metro Sports Park.

Goodship said his charges are looking forward to getting stuck in on their home turf.

“The first home game is always exciting, it’s good be back on our home turf where we train day in day out, there’s a little bit of normality for players so we know what the conditions should be like,” he added.

Saturday’s match will be live streamed on the Football Queensland YouTube channel.
