Former German Youth international and ex-Western Sydney Wanderers fullback Jerome Polenz will train with the Brisbane Roar Hyundai A-League squad from next week as the club considers its options for next month’s transfer window.
Polenz has returned to Australia on holiday and will use the ongoing training opportunity to stake his claim to be a January transfer window signing by the Roar as the club strengthens its squad ahead of the opening AFC Asian Champions League matches in late February.
He is expected to begin training with the Roar on Monday.
Polenz spent two seasons with Western Sydney and was a member of the Wanderers team beaten 2-1 by the Roar in last season’s Hyundai A-League Grand Final.
He played three times for the German under-19 team and once for their national under-20 team, including appearances at the European Under-19 championships.
Brisbane Roar Football Director Ken Stead said the club was always interested in quality players but no decision would be made on any new signings until the New Year.
