His Hyundai A-League career is only a handful games of old, but Jay O’Shea is making a fair impression on his new home fans.

The Irishman received more than half the votes for the Roar’s Hyundai A-League Player of the Month for October.

He earned a Team of the Week nomination in his league debut back in Round 1 & is enjoying his time with a raft of new teammates in the Roar midfield.

“I’m quite happy [to have been named Player of the Month], it’s more about the team though. You can see that the team is getting better & we’re working hard to make sure we start picking up victories,” O’Shea said.

“It’s starting to show that we’re doing a lot of work on the training pitch. We’ve got a good relationship on the field and there’s plenty of clever players in this team.”

The Irish midfielder had the chance to play his first Hyundai A-League match at his new home at Suncorp Stadium in Round 3, and his high expectations were certainly met.

“I was really impressed – it was an amazing stadium, the fans were great and I’m looking forward to playing there again,” O’Shea continued.

Moving into November, the Roar has a good run of games following an early season bye, beginning on the road to Adelaide United this Sunday.

“You look forward to games every week and you can get into a rhythm. I think if you asked us after the Perth away game we would have liked to play again the next week,” O’Shea continued.

“We’ve got a good run of games coming up which will be nice and hopefully we can pick up a few wins.

“I’ve watched them [Adelaide United] in the Cup – they’ve got some dangerous players & it’ll be another tough game, but we’ll be working to make sure we’re the best we can be come Sunday.”
