Three months after clinching their second straight Hyundai A-League Championship, Brisbane Roar will begin the preparation of their quest for three with a pre-season fixture against Brisbane Olympic at Goodwin Park tonight.

Head Coach Rado Vidosic will put his players through their paces against the ninth-placed Brisbane Premier League club just a fortnight after returning from a seven-week break as part of a carefully crafted programme drafted by his coaching staff.

“We-re two weeks into pre-season and the plan is that everyone will play 45 minutes,” the Brisbane boss said.

“They-re probably conditioned for a little bit more but we don-t want to risk any injuries.”

Vidosic-s focus will rest not on a result but instead on the progress of his team, especially given the early nature of their first match.

“We-ve been working on a few things from a tactical point of view and a conditioning point of view so we-re looking to see how the players apply these principles,” he said.

“I hope we can present ourselves in the best possible way and show the Brisbane public we-re serious contenders for three in a row.”

Last year, Brisbane Olympic were the Roar-s fifth pre-season fixture and the Hyundai A-League Champions prevailed 5-1 at Goodwin Park with goals to Massimo Murdocca, Thomas Broich, Mitch Nichols and the now-departed Matt McKay and Kosta Barbarouses.
