A late substitute in Australia-s 2-1 victory over New Zealand, Oar will now has a strong shot of convincing the national coaching staff of his potential before Verbeek hands over his final 23-man roster on June 1.

Striker Scott McDonald, midfielder Nick Carle and defender Jade North were the unlucky players not to receive a boarding pass for South Africa.

However, Verbeek will have to send home another five players before Australia face the might of Germany in the squad-s opening match.

The Qantas Socceroos depart for their training base just outside Johannesburg, South Africa on May 26.
