Numbers game for Visconte

Brisbane Roar-s new left wing wonder, Rocky Visconte is looking to rack up the numbers when the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season kicks-off against Gold Coast United on August 8.

Returning to Australian shores after a four year stint in Scottish football, the talented 20 year-old has his sights set high in his debut Hyundai A-League season.

Forced to bide his time on the sidelines at Scottish clubs Heart of Midlothian and Ayr United, Visconte is desperate to be a big part of Brisbane-s revival this season.

“I want to get a good a season under my belt,” Visconte said. “Overseas at Hearts I got only about five or six appearances.

“So I-m want to get a season where I can get at least 30 appearances and get myself into the squad regularly.”

Starting his pre-season with the Roar away from the main group, Visconte has stepped up the intensity in the past week by finally joining his team mates on the pitch.

However, Visconte is eager to remove the training shackles and implement coach Ange Postecoglou-s blueprint for success.

“The way we want to play is to push the ball a lot, get the full backs forward and build the play up,” he said.

“Then when the ball-s forward, attack properly and get numbers in the box.

“Hopefully it works well for us.”

Despite being one of the new faces in the squad, Visconte said he already felt right at home in Queensland-s capital.

“All the boys have been welcoming and the coaching staff have been great,” he said.

“Brisbane-s a lovely city, the club has great facilities and the program has been designed brilliantly.

“I just can-t wait for the season to start.”
