Brisbane Roar is excited to announce the Bakrie Group of Indonesia as new owners of the Hyundai A-League Premiers and Champions.

As the result of comprehensive negotiations and review processes conducted by Football Federation Australia, the Bakrie Group has taken a controlling stake in the club, heralding a new era for Brisbane Roar and football in Australia.

The Bakrie Group-s long-term commitment to Brisbane Roar is a vote of confidence in both the club and football in Australia.

Interim Brisbane Roar CEO Michael Bowers welcomed the Bakrie Group-s investment in the club, heralding the historic agreement as a signal of Australian football-s growing appeal to the wider Asian market.

“We believe this announcement sets a platform for Brisbane Roar to become a powerhouse of Australian sport both on and off the field,” Bowers said.

“The vision the Bakrie Group has for the club and the sport promises to push Brisbane Roar to the forefront of professional sport not only Australia, but also within Asia.

“This is a great time to be a Brisbane Roar fan, we have a champion team on the field and our team off the field has been bolstered by the strong support of the Bakrie Group.”

The Bakrie Group will take a 70 per cent stake in the club, with FFA retaining a 30 per cent stake.

A major Indonesian business, the Bakrie Group has a strong history of investment in football.

With a long term plan to develop the club on all levels, Bowers said Brisbane Roar fans should be genuinely excited about the future of their club.

“The Bakrie Group have made it clear they want Brisbane Roar to set the benchmark in the Hyundai A-League and across the region,” he said.

“They have a strategic plan they want to implement which will see Brisbane Roar rival any sporting organisation in the country.

“Working with Head Coach Ange Postecoglou and club management, the Bakrie Group will work to identify opportunities to strengthen the club both on and off the field.”
