Brisbane Roar hosted a Member Forum last Saturday with Managing Director Sean Dobson and Marketing Manager Kurt Brutton meeting with members and fans at Hotel LA to discuss key topics related to the club in an open and friendly environment.
One of the first topics of discussion was the long term vision of the club.
“Our strategic plan is really simple. Firstly, we have to break even,” Dobson said.
“How do we do that? 15,000 members, 20,000 [match day] attendees, finishing in the top three.
“Also, we want to see two players every year come through our National Youth League and we want to see three players every year come through the NPL and the women’s development league into our team.”
Another major topic that was discussed at length was club initiatives in place to continually increase member numbers and match day attendees at Suncorp Stadium throughout the Hyundai A-League season.
“What we’ve tried to do is bring the human element back to it to change the discussion, change the pyramid to make sure we are here to support you [the members and fans],” Dobson explained.
“You have to look at the whole of club activity; we brought in things like the ONE GOAL box where local clubs can sit in a corporate-style environment at Suncorp Stadium without corporate prices which they can use to help build their sponsorship base at a local level.
“We engage with the Den without interfering with the Den. Our Pauls Family End is great in a year with a consistent family-friendly draw.
“We’ve looked at how we can engage going forward – three out of four weeks we should have an open training session and we should make players available online so we have a broader reach.
“We need to be talking to everyone.”
Brisbane Roar plans to hold another Member Forum over the coming months with a date and venue yet to be confirmed.
