Roar Women Head Coach Mel Andreatta has been named Female Coach of the Year at this morning’s rebel Female Football Awards 2019.

The honour comes as we celebrate International Women’s Day — a chance to recognise & celebrate all the amazing women in our society.

Andreatta, who led the Roar Women to a second consecutive top-two finish this Westfield W-League season, was humbled to accept the award and thanked her colleagues for their tireless work throughout the campaign.

“There are so many great female coaches across Australia and to be recognised is very humbling,” Andreatta said.

“There are so many staff and people behind the scenes who have played a huge part in the successes we have had this season.

“I would like to thank all the wonderful staff & coaches for their efforts & professionalism throughout the season, the players for their commitment & dedication, the supporters, especially The Roar Corps for their passion, and the Club for it’s belief in us.”

Another award is also heading to the Sunshine State with passionate BRFC fan Chris McAlister being named as Female Football Fan of the Year.

As a proud member of the Roar Supporters Federation and Roar Corps, Chris has worked tirelessly to enhance the Brisbane Roar Fan Experience by organising face-painting at game days, writing the RSF column in BRFC Match Day Program, helping fundraise for the Brisbane Roar Kit Launch and plenty more.

BRFC would like to sincerely congratulate both Mel & Chris on their honours.
