On Monday, the Brisbane Roar Academy squads commence training and BRFC are pleased to announce the coaches that will be guiding these talented young footballers in 2018.
This exciting development for Queensland football will help create another pathway for junior footballers to hopefully become future Hyundai A-League stars.
The sides will be training at Queensland University of Technology’s state-of-the-art facility at the Kelvin Grove Campus.
Drew Sherman – Academy Director
Our Academy Director, Drew Sherman, is responsible for the management and direction of the youth department here at Brisbane Roar. Drew works closely with our Head Coach, John Aloisi and Director of Football, Craig Moore to ensure young players are provided the best opportunity of forging professional careers here at the club.
Drew holds both his Pro License & FA Advanced Youth License. At 21 years, he became the youngest person in Europe to obtain his UEFA A License and by 23 he had been appointed as the youngest Academy Director in the English Football League.

James Robinson - Under 19 Academy Heach Coach
The AFC Pro License holder has been with Brisbane Roar now, overseeing the National Youth League and U19 NPL program since September 2016.
A former Hyundai A-League Grand Final winner during his playing days with Melbourne Victory, James’ career in Australia also saw the Liverpool-born forward turn out for Perth Glory and North Queensland Fury across five Hyundai A-League seasons.
James works closely with John Aloisi, Ross Aloisi and the Hyundai A-League side on a daily basis, replicating the First Team environment and processes within the U19 program.

Fabrice Morozetti – Under 17 Academy Head Coach
Fabrice arrives in Brisbane from footballing powerhouse Brazil where he has worked in the Academy structure from U13 to U20s at Santos FC. This Academy has most recently produced world-class players such as PSG’s Neymar and Manchester City Defender Danilo.
He holds his Pro License and we are delighted to welcome Fabricio to the club here at Brisbane Roar, and can safely say that his experience of producing world-class players will be of enormous benefit to us here in the Academy.

Chris Grossman – Under 16 Academy Head Coach
Chris has recently retired from a playing career that saw him make in excess of 50 Hyundai A-League appearances across spells with Brisbane Roar, North Queensland Fury and Newcastle Jets. The Brisbane local, commences his coaching career with us here in the Academy with first-hand experience of the pathway for young players looking to transition into our own first-team here at the Brisbane Roar, having been through the Queensland system himself in the not too distant past.
Chris, will oversee the coaching of our U16 Academy Age Group whilst working through his FFA Coaching badges towards obtaining his AFC A License in the near future.
BRFC Academy Director, Drew Sherman, is mentoring Chris as he makes his way through the coaching badges and develops as a young coach.
As a former player with us here at Brisbane Roar and Australian U20 International, there are few better placed to help young players understand the culture of the club and expectations of all Brisbane Roar players.

Jose Barcala García – Under 15 Academy Head Coach
A UEFA Pro License holder through the Spanish Football Federation and graduate in Sports Science from the University of A Coruña, Jose has been working as a youth development coach for close to twenty years.
Jose joined Brisbane Roar in October 2017 as Academy Head Coach and is responsible for overseeing the progression of the players in the U15 Academy Team. His experience of the highest levels of player development in Spain’s La Liga will be of enormous benefit to the Roar, our Academy Partner Clubs and Football in Queensland.

Jake Goodship – Under 14 Academy Head Coach
Jake joins Brisbane Roar with a wealth of National Premier Leagues Queensland Club experience, where over the past decade he was instrumental in the development of one of Queensland’s leading semi-professional Academy programs. Jake is a current FFA A License holder with outstanding knowledge of local Football here in Brisbane. He is a young enthusiastic and innovative coach with a passion for player development, and is in our opinion one of the best youth development coaches in Queensland at present.
A former apprentice player with Stevenage FC the Englishman has been in Brisbane working with many of the city’s most talented players for the past nine years. We are delighted to have appointment someone of Jake’s calibre and reputation
Martin Bullock – Under 13 Academy Head Coach
A former player with more than 450 professional appearances in the English Premier League and Football League, Martin joins our Academy Coaching Team from Northern Football in New Zealand where he held the role of Player Development Officer for a number of years.
The OFC A License holder, possesses significant experience in player development, overseeing the successful National Training Centre program across Auckland on behalf of New Zealand Football. The former Barnsley and Blackpool midfielder’s understanding of what is required of young players to transition to professional football adds significant value to our Academy.

Tom Fawdry - Academy Goalkeeping Coach
Tom is a level 3 Goalkeeping coach and A license holder with a wealth of experience as Head of Academy Goalkeeping in the English Academy structure.
He has been Head of Goalkeeping at Aldershot Town, Portsmouth FC and most notably Charlton Athletic where he was responsible for the progression of players from the U23 side into the First Team Squad. Tom’s experience also includes working with both junior and senior national teams, and recently with Reading FC in the Women’s Super League.

Jamie Dixon - Pre-Academy Coordinator
Jamie joins our team after having worked in the SAP age groups here in Brisbane for a number of years, including partner club Olympic FC. Originally from England, he obtained his UEFA B License and worked in the Academy at Stoke City. He is presently completing his Football Federation Australia A License.
Jamie will lead the programme for our youngest players between the ages of 6-11 years old, as we create environments around Queensland that will identify the future Academy players.
Brisbane Roar will announce squad details and further information on BRFC Academy program over the coming days ahead of this Monday's official first training session for our players 12-17 years.
