Match report: Nix v Roar

Thumbnail

A late goal from Stefan Mauk wasn’t quite effort as Brisbane Roar fell to a narrow defeat against Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.

Mauk netted his first goal in his second season for the Club, cutting the deficit in half in the 85th minute, but goals either side of the break for the home side saw the Nix take the points.

Steven Taylor nodded home from close range before Ulises Davila found the bottom corner shortly after the restart.

History was made for the Roar with 17-year-old Jordan Courtney-Perkins becoming the youngest player to ever start a game for the Club (17 years, 17 days), pipping fellow BRFC Academy graduate Izaack Powell by seven days.

The Roar return to Brisbane next weekend for just the second home game at Suncorp Stadium so far this season, hosting the Mariners next Saturday evening. Get your tickets HERE.
