Brisbane Roar has received another significant boost ahead of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season, this time off the field, with Chinese tyre company Linglong Tyres joining the club as front of short sponsors.

The fastest growing tyre company in the world – and one of the top 20 global tyre manufacturers – has secured the prime sponsorship position for one year.

Brisbane CEO Peter McLennan said he was honoured to have Linglong-s involvement with the club, saying it provided confidence ahead of what promises to be an exciting season for Brisbane.

“This is a major vote of confidence in the direction the club is heading,” McLennan said.

“Both on and off the field we are seeking to be a stable and successful club, a club which our fans and all of Brisbane can be proud of.

“Given the current tough economic conditions, we are delighted Linglong have committed to Brisbane Roar and we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.”

Football is a national passion in China and Linglong managing director Feng Wang said his company was keen to forge a strong relationship with Brisbane Roar.

“Linglong tyres is excited about our partnership with Brisbane Roar and we are proud to showcase our international tyre brand in the Hyundai A-League,” Mr Wang said.

Linglong manufactures more than 2000 different kinds of tyres with the range stretching from passenger car tyres to truck tyres.

Much as Brisbane has set itself the goal of becoming the Hyundai A-League-s No.1 team, so Linglong are also striving to cement themselves as a world leader in tyre manufacturing.

The company has a current brand value of $US646 million and is looking to expand its sales revenue to $US3 billion over the coming years.
